Update

The original design of the website will remain unchanged or slightly altered. Most of the work of an update is "under the hood." Cleaning current code to pass W3C Validation, updating existing content, adding new content (images, text, files, etc.), change of color scheme, etc. Updates may also incorporate new CMS software, E-Commerce, SEO, or Flash capabilities depending on the original design's capabilities and set up (not all options are always compatible.)

New Design

The original design of the website is archived and is replaced with a new, complete, custom design. New Designs involve completely original layouts, revamped logo or branding, modernized color schemes, etc. New Designs are perfectly suited for CMS, E-Commerce, SEO, and Flash integration.

CMS: Content Management System

CMS software is an online, back-end administrative application, for creating and managing HTML/XHTML content. It is used to manage and control a large, dynamic collection of Web material (HTML documents and their associated images). CMS facilitates content creation, content control, editing, and essential Web maintenance functions. The software provides authoring (and other) tools designed to allow users with little knowledge of programming languages or markup languages to create and manage content with relative ease. Most systems use a database to store content, metadata, or artifacts that might be needed by the system. Content is frequently, but not universally, stored in XML files or MySQL databases, to facilitate, reuse, and enable flexible presentation options.

SEO: Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. Typically, the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.

Why a Timeframe

Every job, whether its a New Custom Design or simply an Update of a currently existing website, is a completely unique job. However, one item that will often dictate the quality of a product is the timeframe in which the project is to be completed. Xenoplexus Webstudios' standard project timeframe is 3-6 months in length. Timeframe's that are requested earlier will incur an up charge and timeframe's requested longer will receive a discount. This is primarily due to work load of concurrent Xenoplexus projects in house and the ability to give each and every project the necessary attention that it deserves.

Mobile Companion Site

In most cases, traffic to your site will be via a desktop or laptop computer with relative full capabilities of flash, javascript, cookies and an average screen width of at least 1024 x 768 px. However, there are special cases where a significant amount of traffic maybe through mobile devices (i.e. Blackberry™, iPod Touch™, etc.) which will not have one or several of the aforementioned capabilities. This will affect the visitor's experience due to difficult navigation, improperly rendered images, large site parameters exceeding the screen size of the device, etc.. In these cases, a Mobile companion site can be developed, usually as a sub domain (i.e. http://mobile.yoursite.com), that will duplicate all or most of the information from your full site, but will have one or all of the aforementioned capabilities removed and or reduced. This will allow the main information of your website to still be accessible to a vast array of visitors without decreasing their experience.
