XenoSQL

A careful MySQL and SQLite client.

A native Mac database client for MySQL 8 and SQLite: browse, edit, query, change structure and move data in and out. Every statement XenoSQL runs for you, including the ones behind a click in the grid, is shown before it runs and logged after.

What’s planned

What XenoSQL will do

XenoSQL is being planned and designed now. Here is what the first release is meant to do. Details may change before release.

  • Staged edits

Changed cells turn amber, new rows get a green edge and deleted rows are struck through. ⌘S shows the exact SQL before it runs.

  • All or nothing

Your changes run in one transaction and roll back completely if any statement fails.

  • Production, clearly marked

Flag a connection as production and its window takes on its colour, with a full-SQL confirmation before every change.

  • Filters you can read

Build filters with type-aware operators and AND/OR, see the WHERE clause, and edit it by hand. Values are always sent as parameters.

  • A proper query editor

Autocomplete from your live schema, several result sets, query history and EXPLAIN.

  • SSH tunnels

Reach remote databases through your own ~/.ssh/config hosts and SSH agent.

  • A log of every statement

Everything sent to the server is logged, including the SQL generated by your edits.

  • Data in and out

Streamed CSV, JSON and SQL import and export, and copy rows as JSON, CSV, INSERT statements or Markdown.

  • Finds your XenoHost databases

If XenoHost is installed, its sites’ databases are offered as connections. Passwords are kept in your Keychain.

Command line

The same care from Terminal

XenoSQL will come with a xenosql command-line tool for running a query, exporting and importing table data, and opening SSH tunnels, with the same --json and --dry-run conventions as every XenoTool.

  • Connection details stored on your Mac; secrets in the macOS Keychain
  • Open a connection in mysql or sqlite3 in Terminal
  • No cloud sync, no telemetry
XenoTools

Part of XenoTools

XenoSQL queries. Its sibling tools build, serve, ship and audit the same projects, and each one also works on its own.
