XenoKit

Release notes

Every XenoKit release, newest first.

Condensed from our development notes. XenoKit has been in use on our own sites since 1.0.

  1. 1.12.0

    LatestBuild 274

XenoKit adopts the command-line conventions shared by every XenoTool.

    New
    • The suite’s lifecycle commands: init, add, import, export, restore, enable, disable, remove, list and status
    • --dry-run on every command that changes something
    • The suite’s shared, documented exit codes
    Improved
    • init now sets XenoKit itself up; adding a project is now add (it was init --write)
    • Consistent --json output: snake_case keys, absolute paths, and errors with codes
Join the beta 6.8 MB · Signed & notarized · macOS 15 or later
  2. 1.11.0

    Build 254
    Improved
    • Build status now colours the brackets of the <K> icon in the menu bar and on the Dock (green, yellow or red) instead of showing a dot
    • The icon’s letters are now capitals
  3. 1.10.0

    Build 248
    New
    • Scripts that use CodeKit’s @codekit-prepend and @codekit-append are joined byte-for-byte, with a warning that suggests porting them
    • Import from CodeKit brings those scripts over
    • xenokit schema documents every .xenokit.yml key
    Improved
    • shell: true in a command rule is now refused
    • The loop-risk check counts only the paths a command writes
  4. 1.9.2

    Build 243
    Improved
    • The Files tree dims compiled outputs and output folders, and mutes the badges on partials
  5. 1.9.1

    Fixed
    • The status dot and error count now clear when a watcher fixes a file

Not released on its own: this fix shipped in 1.9.2.

  6. 1.9.0

    Improved
    • The project menu shows each project’s state as a coloured dot instead of a word
  7. 1.8.0

    Improved
    • XenoKit tells you when a watcher can’t be reached for live status
  8. 1.7.0

    Build 233

Event-driven throughout: XenoKit does no recurring work while it waits.

    Improved
    • Measured idle CPU fell to 0.25% of one core, with 18 projects watching and the window closed
  9. 1.6.0

    Build 221
    Improved
    • .xenokit.yml records the project icon, so XenoKit no longer rescans for it
  10. 1.5.1

    Build 217
    Improved
    • The app no longer polls every project every second: idle CPU dropped from 6.7% to about 1%
  11. 1.5.0

    Build 210
    New
    • Import All brings every CodeKit project on your Mac across in one go
    Improved
    • A friendlier Import from CodeKit: one page of plain-language cards, and the comparison with CodeKit’s output runs by itself
