Teach the lesson. Classroom Diaries writes it up.
A Mac app for language teachers. Record a lesson in the classroom or online, transcribe it on your Mac, and let Classroom Diaries pick out the vocabulary, corrections, pronunciation and grammar you actually taught. After you review it, one dated entry goes into that class’s Google Doc.
In daily use with 25 classes · Audio never leaves your Mac · Signed and notarized
Writing up every lesson for every class takes hours a week. Classroom Diaries does the write-up, and you stay in charge of what gets published.
Record the room with your Mac’s microphone. For online lessons it records both sides of the call, and you can also import audio you recorded on your phone.
Apple’s on-device speech recognition turns the lesson into text. The audio never leaves your Mac.
The extraction picks out the words, corrections, pronunciation and grammar you deliberately covered, and skips hard words that were only used in passing.
Edit, reorder, add or move items between the four categories before anything is saved or published. Re-extract any time with an improved prompt.
Publish adds one formatted, dated entry to the class’s own Google Doc in date order. Re-Publish replaces that one entry and nothing else.
Each class keeps its own lesson history on your Mac, even after recordings and transcripts are deleted. Cancelled classes get an entry too.

Pick a class, then work down the list. Each step waits for you.
Record in the classroom or on a call, or import an audio file. Jot live notes or the coursebook unit while you teach.
On-device transcription turns the recording into text. Several lessons can transcribe at once.
Your transcript goes to Anthropic’s Claude with your own API key, which picks out what you taught and writes the lesson’s subject line.
Check and edit the vocabulary, corrections, pronunciation and grammar, and the subject line.
Save it to the class history, copy it, or publish it to the class’s Google Doc at its date.
Classroom Diaries has no servers, no accounts and no analytics. Recordings, transcripts and lesson history are stored on your Mac, and you decide how long each is kept, with stricter settings for classes with younger students.
When you connect your Google account, the app writes only the lesson entries you publish, into the Docs you choose. Before it writes, it reads the headings in that Doc so the entry lands at the right date. No Google data is ever sent to an AI service.

Classroom Diaries is in daily use with 25 classes, but it isn’t publicly distributed yet. If you teach English and would like to try it, send us a message with the form below. It needs your own Anthropic API key (a lesson costs about a cent or two to extract) and, for publishing, a Google account.
Classroom Diaries is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Apple Inc. Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
